Letter C Activities
Monday (5/26/2014)- CELEBRATE. Since it's Memorial Day, I thought we would take some time to CELEBRATE. I have patriotic outfits for the girls, plus we are going to go to a parade :) I want the girls to understand why we CELEBRATE. "Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. Over two dozen cities and towns claim to be the birthplace of Memorial Day. While Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it’s difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day. Regardless of the exact date or location of its origins, one thing is clear – Memorial Day was borne out of the Civil War and a desire to honor our dead." (Taken from HERE)
Tuesday (5/27/2014)- Today's task will be tracing the letter 'C' and hanging it on the fridge. I want this to be something we do every week so Tayler (and Quinn) get used to writing their letters instead of just recognizing them when they see them.
Wednesday (5/28/2014)- We are going to cut out letter Cs and draw on them, then hang them on the fridge along with our traced letters. I got the idea HERE, but instead of using a paper plate, we are going to use construction paper. (And instead of numbers we are going to draw on them.) I think Tayler will really like this activity!
Thursday (5/29/2014)- We are going to discuss the fact that CARS begins with the letter 'C' and we are going to play with our toy cars we have (they're Bubble Guppy toy cars) and we are going to watch 'CARStoons: Mater's Tall Tales' on Netflix. It sounds like the perfect addition to our CARS theme today!
Friday (5/30/2014)- COLORS. We are going to learn about the different colors today. Hopefully it will be nice enough that we can be outside... we have tons of COLORS in our sidewalk CHALK kit that I would love to be able to use! This is the one subject Tayler hasn't learned yet (she knows her alphabet, numbers, and shapes... so this just seems to be the perfect thing to end C-Week with!)
