6 Weeks Pregnant With #3

We are 6 weeks along! Only 34 left, right? LOL

Here's a shot of the belly this week:

Bloated. My pants already don't want to stay buttoned, haha. But I figure it's my third, this is going to happen pretty quickly! I took another pregnancy test this week because I love seeing that line.. it was REALLY dark this week! I love it!

It was probably premature, but I THOUGHT we had our baby names picked out. I'm a planner and I'm very OCD so I think about this stuff and plan it out WAYYYY ahead of time. I had a girls name picked, but I'm kind of veering towards something else. We did have Hollynn picked and I love that name, but I am kind of leaning a different direction now.

We love Kase/Kace (still unsure on which spelling I'm going to use) Grady for a boy. And I think we might have settled on Karolyne Kelly for a girl. I like different spellings for a bit more common names :) And for some reason, I want a 'K' for this baby's name, haha! We will find out in about 8 weeks what the baby is. I'm already anxious!!

We have two girls right now, so a boy would be pretty cool, but you know what? I honestly wouldn't mind 3 girls. My initial gut reaction was GIRL, but everyone has had these dreams about BOYS so I am totally unsure going in to it :) Guess we will see in early May!

Now, for the weekly (boring right now) questions.

How far along? 6 weeks.
Total Weight Gain? None that I'm aware of.
Maternity Clothes? Nah!
Stretch Marks? I have some from both pregnancies already!
Sleep: I'm always tired already, haha! I have an almost 3 year old and an almost 10 month old, lol
Best Moment of This Week: Well, how about a few weeks combined? Seeing positive pregnancy tests.
Miss Anything? Not really so far.
Movement: Of course not. Lol
Food Cravings: Japanese Steakhouse. Italian foods.
Anything Make You Queasy or Sick? Just certain smells make me queasy right now. No vomiting or anything :)
Gender: We have no idea!
Labor Signs: I'd sure hope not! :)
Symptoms: Nausea, heartburn, sore boobies, exhaustion

Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody this Week?  A little bit of both! It's that first trimester... I'm always kind of upset during that time. It's confusing... scary... exciting.. nerve wrecking.. all wrapped up in to one!

27 Years...

Ten years ago (in a few days), I was celebrating my 17th birthday. I was probably sitting at school, working my way through the end of my junior year of high school. I can still see myself, taking notes in Mr. Smith's social studies class, reading a book in Mrs. Sterling's English class. Ten years has went by really fast. I can remember that my junior year was a critical year -- you started contemplating what college you were going to attend, what your occupation was going to be. You had dreams, aspirations. I remember I job-shadowed my junior year at the old West Muskingum High School. I wanted to be a high school math teacher, so I observed a teacher in this same field. I saw how passionate she was about learning and I knew that's what I wanted to do.

My senior year of high school, I applied to Muskingum College and was accepted. I was thrilled! I remember going through their course catalog and dreaming about all of the math classes I was going to take. I couldn't wait to take it all in. I thought, 'In four to five years, I'm going to be a teacher. It is going to be amazing!" I didn't have dreams of being a Mother... of being a wife...  I told everyone, "I want to get a condo and live all by myself." It's weird to look back and think about that, but being a teacher was my only dream. It's all I could see.

College was tougher than I had expected. Math kept knocking me down. I struggled to pass Calculus. And I gave up on that major. I thought, 'Okay, maybe math isn't for me. Lets try something else.' So, I started taking some English classes. I thought, 'Maybe I'll just go ahead and teach that.' And I struggled in that field as well.

As a matter of fact, I started struggling period. I remember the day, the year, just like it was yesterday. December 15, 2006, I walked out of Muskingum College for the final time. Anxiety had started ruling my life. I struggled to drive to school, I struggled to sit through class. As I drove home, breathing in through my nose, out through my mouth, the only thing I could think was --- There goes every dream I've ever had. How am I going to combat this? How am I ever going to be happy again? This is all I'd ever wanted and I felt like it was slipping through my fingers.

In February 2007, I tried out another local university. I did pretty good close to home. The drive wasn't too bad and I was back in to the whole teacher-English thing. It felt good again. Then a tragedy happened-- during one of my basic math classes, the girl next to me had a seizure. It was one of the scariest things I had ever seen in my life. And traumatizing for me. I remember grabbing my laptop, my bags, and running out the door in the midst of all of the chaos. The only thought I had was-- get out of the building, get to fresh air, get to your car, leave and never come back. That was the last day I attended that local university. That traumatizing event left me even more broken than I already was. Some people probably read this and think, 'THAT made you drop out of college?' But if you haven't struggled with anxiety, you won't understand. Traumatizing events leave you struggling to get your footing. At that point, I thought I would try online schooling. I wanted my degree, after all, should I let anxiety stop me from that?

I switched my major to business, worked from home, and that was my life for the next 2 years. I finally graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Business in June 2009. I went on to start my Master's Degree in Distance Learning Education in September 2009. I thought maybe, just maybe, I could one day work for an online-school system. Some way to keep a hold of this dream I had.. and still cope with the anxiety that seemed to have me bound.

On December 23rd, 2009, I heard my husband's voice for the first time. My brother called me to confirm a story and he was hanging out at Ethan's house. I'd never met Ethan before. Never even heard of him, actually. He got on the phone using a really cool pick-up line and said, 'You want to just discuss all of this over dinner?' I told him he sounded like he was 12 and if he wanted to talk to me, he could get my number and call me on his own phone.

Wouldn't you know it-- he called me about 20-minutes later and talked to me the entire time his friend was getting a tattoo inside. And then he called me back after that and we talked all night long.

We talked all night December 24th, 2009.... all day December 25th, 2009... and we finally met for the first time December 26, 2009. Some people probably roll their eyes at the whole 'love at first site' gibberish, but I assure you. It's real. I loved him the moment I saw him. He made me feel safe. I can still picture our first hug. He's about 6-7 inches taller than me-- it was perfect.

We were inseparable from that moment on. He stayed at my house just about every night and I finally got up the courage to drive again on January 17, 2010. I drove down to his apartment and stayed with him there. I felt safe again. No anxiety. Just peace. He was the ONE.

I ended up moving in with him April 14th, 2010.. and that was history. I got my confidence back. I drove everywhere, went places alone to find things, worked on schooling at home, went out with him in the evenings. My life finally felt like it had purpose again, but I still struggled with having no dream. The thought of becoming a teacher was gone. When would I feel whole again? Like I was pushing towards another dream?

July 29th, 2010-- I found out I was pregnant.

It rocked my world.

As someone that struggled with anxiety, I struggled with medical anxiety even more. I remember saying over and over again, 'How am I going to do this?! What kind of life am I going to give this baby?!'

She was born March 31, 2011 and want to know a little secret?

My dreams and aspirations came true.

I look back and think about the fact that I didn't believe I could ever feel useful. Anxiety had taken me and stripped everything from me-- all of my hopes.. what I had pushed myself for.. what I'd worked all of high school towards. It was gone.

BUT.

God gave me something better in it's place.

Being a Mother is everything I never knew I'd ever wanted. It made me feel whole. Finally.

I looked down at that sweet, helpless baby and I knew my goal in life was going to be to love her unconditionally. It was going to be to cherish her. Tell her she's beautiful every single day. Mold her. Encourage her. Help her fight when she's broken. Kiss her boo-boos. Snuggle her when she's sick. Teach her right from wrong.

Tayler, I thought I had all of these aspirations before you were born. I thought anxiety stole them from me. I thought being a Mother was going to pull them away from my reach. Turns out, God had other plans. My aspirations weren't stolen from me. They were simply changed. It was a path that I had to go down and I am a better woman today because of that.

May 2, 2013, I had another beautiful daughter. She's my soft-hearted, tender baby. She cries at the drop of a hat-- she reminds me of me. Giving birth made me see life in a whole new perspective.

I am a warrior.

At 27, I can look at my life and say, 'Sure, I struggled. Sure, I let things get stolen that I wanted badly, but God didn't leave me or forsake me. He overflowed my cup. He gave me an even greater purpose than I had for myself. He made me a mother.

At 27, I see myself fulfilling the roles of a wife. I love my husband more than you could probably even fathom. He is my backbone and my best friend. He sees me through my tough times and pushes me to face my enemies. At 27, I see myself fulfilling the role of a mother. I have a gorgeous almost 3-year old, a gorgeous 10-month old, and I'm 33.5 weeks away from snuggling one more precious baby.

I am a blessed woman.

No, my life didn't go how I'd had it planned ten years ago. I sometimes wonder what my 17-year old junior self would think if someone told her this is where I/she would be a decade later. She would probably laugh.. maybe cry a little knowing the struggle.. But I hope she would be proud of me..... of us.

My life has a purpose. My life has a driving force. It wasn't what I had dreamed about for 24 years, but it's what makes me feel whole after 24 years.

I am preparing to turn 27 years old in just a few days and I can honestly say that I am the happiest I have ever been. Faith was a struggle over those years, but I am so grateful that He had every step in the palm of His hands.

Here's to 27 years of living and here's to 27+ more!

5 Weeks Pregnant with #3

It's kind of neat. I've blogged about my first two pregnancies on this very same blog. I was pregnant for my first daughter from July 29, 2010 (the day I found out) to March 31, 2011 (the day she was born.) I was pregnant for my second daughter from August 24, 2012 (the day I found out) to May 2, 2013 (the day she was born.) And guess what?

I get to blog for our THIRD child.

That's right, folks.

Baby Bay #3 should be gracing us with his/her presence somewhere between October 23rd-October 27th (I'm not sure my exact due date, but I know a little bit of an estimate with those, lol.) I will know exacts in a few weeks at our first ultrasound! We are very excited.

About a month ago, I had a dream that my cousin and I were pregnant at the same time and we both had beautiful baby boys. Well, wouldn't you know it-- about 2 weeks after that dream, she messages me and tells me that she's pregnant! I found out I was expecting on Valentine's Day, then continued taking tests clear up until Monday, February 17th. Monday evening, I received a text message from a dear friend of mine that said, 'Hey lady! I had a dream you were pregnant and having a baby boy. How weird is that??' She had NO idea I was pregnant.. or even close to being pregnant, haha! On Tuesday morning, my grandmother told me she had a dream I was pregnant and having a baby boy. She had NO idea I was pregnant.. or even close to being pregnant.

All of these are reasons I believe we are having a beautiful baby boy that will complete our family in ways I had never dreamed of.

It's interesting getting pregnant for your third.

Your first-- EVERYONE in the world is excited for you. They're giving you advice, asking you questions.. They're thrilled. They're telling you how much you're going to love being pregnant, how much you're going to love being a Mommy or a Daddy.

Your second-- Everyone is still excited because you're giving your first a sibling, but the excitement dies down just a little bit. You're already a parent.. it's just exciting to think about what the next one will look like, how they will act, etc.

Your third-- You start getting different advice. LOL

'Are you crazy?'
'Do you know how hard that's going to be?'
'Do you know that your youngest will only be 19 months old when your third is born?'
'How will you have room for everyone?'
'Their teenage years are going to be crazy for you.'
'Say goodbye to sleep!'
'Do you know what's causing that? We can help you figure it out!'
'Is this your last?'

Like I said, it's interesting.

Sure, people are excited.. but some are questionable.

I am thrilled that we are having a third child. I feel complete in my heart knowing that this is our third and final. Sure, I'll have sleepless nights. I have sleepless nights now and my children are 2 and almost 10 months. I think we wake up in our sleep more times than not as parents-- check on our children, investigate noises.

I know this baby is a miracle and a blessing... and we will make it work. Sure, we might not have enough room in our home right now, but we will take care of that baby. We will love that baby. And I think that's all that he/she needs right now :)

I'll be 27 1/2 when this baby is born. And for the first time in my life, I feel 'complete' that this will be our last child. I feel at peace. I never thought that would happen, but it has. I am blessed beyond measure that we were able to have the children that we have. I am grateful every day for His goodness.

I'm about 5 1/2 weeks pregnant at this moment in time.

I thought I'd start my weekly questions :) It was always fun for Quinn.

How far along? 5 weeks.
Total Weight Gain? None.
Maternity Clothes? Nah!
Stretch Marks? I have some from both pregnancies already!
Sleep: I'm always tired already, haha! I have an almost 3 year old and an almost 10 month old, lol

Miss Anything? Caffeinated coffee. This Decaf stuff is for the birds, ha!
Movement: Of course not. Lol
Food Cravings: Japanese Steakhouse.
Anything Make You Queasy or Sick? Just certain smells make me queasy right now. No vomiting or anything :)
Gender: We have no idea!

Cheers to 5 weeks! On to 6 weeks :)

"We all let ourselves go eventually, hunny. You'll see!"

I overheard something in the store the other day that bothered me.

I saw a younger lady looking through the clothing section. She was picking out a small camisole and a tiny pair of jeans. She already had a necklace, pair of earrings, and pair of high heels that she was holding up to the camisoles to see if they matched. You could clearly tell she had plans and wanted to look good while doing them. There was an older lady nearby who said, "Oh my word. I probably fit in one of those tank tops 25 years ago. Look how tiny that is!" She then said, "Looks like you've got a hot date!" To which the younger lady stated, "I do. My husband and I are going out for Valentine's Day.. it's our first Valentine's Day as a married couple. I want to make his jaw drop when I walk out of the bedroom next weekend."

And the older lady said:

"Wait til you're 3 kids in and married for 10 years. You won't care how you look at all, you'll just be happy to get out of the house." The young lady giggled and said, "I'm going to try and always look my best for my husband. He's a handsome fella, I have to keep up!"

And the older lady said:

"We all let ourselves go eventually, hunny. You'll see!"

And it kind of struck something in me.

"We all let ourselves go eventually."

Do we?

Now, let me put a disclaimer out there really quickly. I am not saying everyone has to agree with me on this subject. I'm also not saying that if you wear sweatpants every day, your husband will indefinitely leave you. I understand women work out of the home, lives are busy, etc. I'm speaking from my own heart concerning my own experiences. To each his own.

As soon as I got married... as soon as I had my first child.. I heard it.

"Say goodbye to the days of showering, doing your make-up, wearing nice clothes."

According to Momlogic/Parent Alliance, "90% of couples report a drop in relationship satisfaction after the birth of a baby, there’s a major increase in relationship conflict and the recurrence of a couple’s “trigger” or hot-spot issues rises, plus lots of couples experience a shift in sexual frequency and intimacy."

Of course, this is obvious. You have a child now. You won't be able to be intimate whenever you feel like it because you will have a little one to tend to. It gets even more difficult as you continue having children. BUT does that mean we shouldn't still try?

I might be in the minority, but I think stating, "Well, we have children now" is just an excuse for not taking care of yourself like you used to.

I saw this little number going around not to long ago that said, "Sorry, I'm in the clothes I wore yesterday. It's called 'my children are my priority.' You should try it sometime."

I'll be the first to say that my children are my priority every single day. I make sure they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I make sure they have baths every day, clean clothes, clipped fingernails, combed hair. I change diapers, wipe faces. We play, we sing, we dance. We watch funny cartoons. My kids are my world.

BUT.

So is my husband.

Should he be put on the backburner because I'm a mother now?

Of course, there's the argument of: He should love you regardless of how you look. And sure, he should. Good thing is, my husband does. When I wake up in the morning, I still get told that I'm beautiful. It's a blessing, that's for sure, but here's the key:

He can still love me BUT not feel attracted to me.

What I mean is, if I'm not taking care of myself, he can love me, but he be turned off by my lack of care concerning myself.

Personally, I try and look cleaned up for my husband every single day. Sure, it's tough. I have two children and I am usually spending my days editing photos, but I MAKE him a priority. When I give the girls a bath, I keep them in the shower with me while I shower. I let them play in the bath tub while I get ready (doing make-up, blow drying my hair, curling my hair, getting dressed.) Some days, we have screaming while I'm getting ready. Some days, we have tugging on my legs. But, I keep going because I want to look my best when my husband comes home. Sure, I could say, "Sorry hun. The girls were being difficult so I didn't get ready today" but I feel like that's just an excuse. It takes me about 30 minutes to clean up on any given day.. and my husband is worth that. (I don't say this to act better than anyone-- just trying to make a point that my husband is one of my priorities :))

I love when he walks through the door and says, "Oh my gosh. You look beautiful today." I love that he can't keep his hands off me some days. I love when he says, "You smell good." I love when he wants to cuddle me. I love when he tells me how nice my hair looks.

We have been together for almost 4 1/2 years... 2 kids later.. and I still want to see that sparkle in his eyes when he walks through the door.

I'm sure I'll have people saying, 'Wait til you've been married for 10 years... 15 years... 20 years" or "Wait til you add another one in there. Good luck with that." But my answer will still be the same.

HE IS WORTH IT.

Just because I am a mother doesn't mean I forgot about him or his needs. I would not say that my husband is "needy" as far as my looks go. He would never tell me, "You need to clean yourself up." I know he loves me unconditionally, but my thought is-- why would I want to even open that door up for him? He goes to work every day and there are women there who work in offices. I'm sure they are dressed nicely, hair done, smelling good. I don't want him to ever have room to think, "Man, I wish my wife would dress like that." Or "Man, I wish my wife would clean up once in awhile." I don't want date nights to be the only night he sees me looking my best.

I want to be the best I can be EVERY day.

I won't lie. It's tough. It's work. I know I get to stay home every day with my girls, but it is difficult to make time for it. Between diaper changes, meals, editing 5 photo sessions, cleaning up, getting baths, having nap time.. I don't know how to fit it in, but I do it for him. I give props to mothers that work outside of the home and still accomplish this. It's a beautiful thing.

Your husband deserves your best. We must be sure that we aren't using busyness or children as an excuse not to take care of him.

I refuse to "let myself go." I refuse to be a woman that tells younger women, "Wait til you've been married for 5 years, 3 kids later." I refuse to put that negativity in their minds. I want to tell them, "Fall in love with your husband and do it every day. Look at his face when you walk around the corner and he sees you for the first time that day. Remember it. Strive for that every single day. Your husband is worth it. Your marriage is worth it. It is worth you putting forth your best effort. It is worth you trying. It is worth embracing the intimacy and love that comes from looking your best."

It isn't easy every day. But that look on my husband's face is certainly worth it.

He is worth it.

My marriage is worth it.

Child Prodigy?

I usually fill my blog with some deep thought I've had for the past few days, but today I am going to share a story with you. Hopefully it makes you laugh as much as it made me laugh. (Okay, hopefully not that much because I nearly peed myself.)

My mom and dad bought my daughters (Tayler and Quinn) a play center for Christmas. It has a book about the alphabet on it, a piano with a few keys, a phone, and more! They fight over it every day and usually it gets taken away for a period of time because we are still working on sharing. LOL :)

Well, I was in the restroom Friday and I walk out in to the living room and I hear Tayler playing the most beautiful song on the piano on her play center. I just stood there in shock. Every note sounded perfect... she was focusing.. it was an incredible moment. I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing. I thought to myself-- she hasn't even heard that song before, how is she playing it? Is she a child prodigy? Should I start making phone calls to record labels? Should I call American Idol and see if they need a piano player for Hollywood Week? What would Harry Connick Jr think?

She ran away and started playing with her Bubble Guppies toys.. and I just sat on the couch in amazement for about 10-15 minutes. I watched her play, thinking to myself, 'My daughter is a piano genius. She is a child prodigy. How did this happen?'

As she ran back to her bedroom, I walked over to the play center just to see if maybe she got this 'prodigy gene' from me.

I started playing on the piano and lo and behold:

I PLAYED THE SONG TOO!

I didn't have music in front of me. I hadn't practiced once. And I was PLAYING IT! I was overwhelmed with joy. She might have got her aggressiveness from her dad, but she got her freaking piano playing skills from her MOTHER.

And then I tripped getting up and hit a random key and it played the beginning of the song again. Coincidence? How did I fall and just randomly play the first note of the song? So, I pressed a different key than I did last time and it played the next note. Weird. Then it hit me...

I started just smacking random keys out of order and it PLAYED THE SONG.

It's fool proof, folks. Regardless of what piano keys you press-- it plays the song. REGARDLESS.

HA! I think I laughed for 20-minutes over this. LOL Who would have guessed!

So, no-- my child isn't a child prodigy as far as the piano goes (although, she is freaking smart in other areas of life.) Which also means that I wasn't playing the song without ever learning it either. Bummer. HAHA!

But oh well. No, she didn't get her piano playing skills from me. But hey, she did get her attitude and lack of patience. Basically the same thing ;)

Thanks For The Housework.

How weird is it that it's 12:38am yet again... And here I am pondering and writing.. Yet again.

This time, I am writing in bed.

And of course, I'm laying here listening to deep breathing. Tonight, it's the sound of my husband.

My strong man seems so vulnerable right now in his sleep. So peaceful. So relaxed.

You might not know this about my husband, but he is a very hard worker. He wakes up at 3:30am Monday-Friday and drives a little over an hour to work... Works until 2:15pm and does it all over again the next day. By the end of the week, he is exhausted mentally and physically. I see hard work all over his body by the end of the week. Back aches, sore feet, fatigue. He does it all for us. He sits in a vehicle a little over 2 hours a day.. Stands on his feet 8 hours a day.. And helps me with the kids after work about 5 hours a day. He endures it all.. For us.

He would never brag to you about his work ethic. He would never tell you how tired he is.. Or how sore he is. He just does it. He does it because of love. He does it because he looks at his three girls (myself included) and he knows we need him. I'm not one of those ladies that will say, 'I don't need him. I want him.' Now, don't get me wrong. If I had to take care of my children alone, I would fulfill my responsibility, but in this moment of time (and hopefully forever-- my husband is my best friend).. I need him.

I need his help. I need his hard work. I need his love. I need his patience. I need his encouragement. I need his trust. I need his faithfulness. I need his support. I am a stay-at-home mom and I don't think my husband will ever understand how that completes me.. And I couldn't do it without him.

However, while I think about all that I need.. I think of him.

He needs my encouragement. He needs my support. He needs my love. He needs my faithfulness.. He needs my help (we are a team.) He needs my trust. He needs my patience. And most importantly--- he needs my thankfulness.

I know some women might look at me and think I am stuck in the 'old days.' I am a firm believer in staying home, taking care of the kids, doing the laundry, washing dishes, cooking dinner, cleaning the house, and whatever else it takes to care for my husband and my children. I am not saying all women have to follow in these footsteps... It's just what I feel is meant for me. I feel blessed being able to do this. And I am blessed because of my partner.

He has made this life for me and I feel like sometimes I take it for granted. I get upset when laundry piles up or the dishes need washed. And why? This is what I have always dreamed of. He works SO hard for me... And I complain about just simple tasks.

I refuse to let my husband feel under appreciated. I refuse to make him feel like his work goes unnoticed.. Or that I am ungrateful.

Thank you, husband, for all that you do for your girls and me.  You are the backbone of our family.. My support.. My motivation.. My love. Thank you for being the hard working man that you are. It does not go unnoticed. I am sorry if I ever seem ungrateful. I love you and appreciate you more than I could write in this blog.

Ladies, if you have a hard working man (regardless of whether you stay at home or not) please thank him today. They are few and far between and they deserve our admiration.

August 13th Journal Prompt: Anger.

The journal prompt of the day is: How do you deal with your anger? I bottle a lot of my emotions up inside. If I feel anger- it may show on...
