The beginning of Proverbs 31:27 states, "She carefully watches everything in her household..." (NLT)
Proverbs 31:27- "She watches over her family...." (NCV)
Proverbs 31:27- "She oversees the care of her house...." (ERV)
God has designed us to be the caretakers of our home. Not just in cleaning and organizing, but spiritually as well. Through the past weeks, God has been working on my heart about PURPOSE. You see, I went to college for 6 years, earned my Master's Degree in Distance Learning Education, and now-- I'm a stay at home Momma. Some days, I feel like I wasted 6 years. Some days, I feel like I'm not as important as the woman out there earning a salary for her family. Some days, I struggle with feeling like I belong in the world. Some days, I am so exhausted and drained from the 24 hour needs of three children. Some days, all I can see is the tiredness. Some days, all I can be is frustrated....
and I desperately wanted that to change.
And He has been teaching me.
Do you know how blessed we are to be mothers? To be stay at home mothers? Some women pray for this opportunity and it is right here in our hands. And not only that, but we are the one person our children are around 24/7. Do you know what kind of impact we can make with that time?
I read a quote on Pinterest that stated, "Children are great imitators, so give them something great to imitate" and this is what Jesus keeps stirring in me.
I am called by Him to be an example to my children. I am called by Him to be a positive influence on their lives. I am called by Him to teach them the appropriate way to handle situations. I am called by Him to train them up in the way they should go. He called me to be a godly woman and a godly mother so that I can raise two godly daughters and one godly son.
Titus 2:3-5 states, "And here’s what I want you to teach the older women: Be respectful. Steer clear of gossip or drinking too much so that you can teach what is good; to young women. Be a positive example, showing them what it is to love their husbands and children, and teaching them to control themselves in every way and to be pure. Train them to manage the household, to be kind, and to be submissive to their husbands, all of which honor the word of God." (VOICE)
These are the things God has called me for. Not to be a mom that screams constantly. Not to be a wife that nags. Not to be a mom that gets angry in an instant. Not to be a mom that doesn't listen to them.
He called me to be that main example in their lives to teach them how to love their future spouses and their future children.
He called me to be the main example in their lives to teach them how to control themselves-- in good situations and bad.
He called me to be the main example in their lives of how to be pure- how to have a prayer life and a walk with Jesus.
He called me to be the main example in their lives to teach them how to properly manage a household.
He called me to be the main example in their lives to teach them how to be kind to everyone that they meet-- you don't know what that person is struggling with.
He called me to be the main example in their lives to teach them how to be submissive to their husbands- not door mats, but helpmates. Women that follow his godly wisdom and advice.
This is a huge opportunity for us to create children that love the Lord and follow His Word. That they find out what a comfort He is to us when we are hurting! That they realize that there is a lot of pain in this world, but He can wash it all away.
We are called to be EXAMPLES, Momma. We are not just a stay-at-home Momma. God has called us to be an example 24/7 to those babies. What are we teaching them about relationships? What are we teaching them about love? What are we teaching them about taking care of a home? What are we teaching them about anger? What are we teaching them about Jesus Christ?
We are the caretakers of our home.
We must take pride in this.
We must take pride in the way our homes look. In the way we present our families. In the way we raise our children. In the way we talk to them.
We are His hands and His feet. Our children will see Him through us. What are they seeing today?
